Max Factor Marilyn Monroe Lipsticks

Max Factor Marilyn Monroe Lipsticks

Marilyn Monroe Lipsticks Max Factor

If you’re looking for a pretty red lipstick then Max Factor have released some beautiful options in their Marilyn Monroe Collection*. I am smitten with 3 Marilyn Berry but they’re all stunning. Max Factor were behind the iconic Marilyn red lip with their Ruby Red and Max Factor have added 3 new reds to their Marilyn Collection so every woman can find her one true red.

Using undertones of orange, blue and purple, each shade works in harmony with individual skin tones of warm, cool and dark, to give a pop of bold colour. Which shade would you pick?

1 Marilyn Ruby Red

Inspired by Marilyn. The original shade loved by Marilyn, this iconic colour is a bold, true red inspired by her career-defining red lip. This is a gorgeous vibrant red and I think a truly glamorous red. I find it hard to pull off such a bold lip but this is a show stopper of a red and If I had glitzy party to attend this is the shade I would opt for.

2 Marilyn Sunset Red

Sunset red is a beautiful burnt orange/red shade, which will pop in warm or olive toned skin tones. I think this will be a gorgeous lipstick for the warmer months its not too fiery and is a very wearable orange toned red.

3 Marilyn Berry

This red will suit pale skin tones or cool skin tones. It has blue undertones which complement cooler complexions. This is my favourite of the four colours and I do tend to wear a lot of berry shades so this is well within my comfort zone. Its a beautiful and has a rich deep pink tone which looks a little more berry on the lips. I think this is the easiest of the four to wear, the most safe shade I guess. I think its gorgeous and I have worn it a lot these past few weeks.

4 Marilyn Cabernet

A rich, deep red with purple undertones, this is perfect for darker skin tones. Think luxurious full bodied red wines. Gosh this is a bold stunning really deep red and is quite a statement on the lips. The colour is very glamorous and sophisticated I haven’t worn this one out of the house yet but I am building up to it.

Max Factor Marilyn Monroe Lipsticks

Max Factor Red Lipsticks Marilyn Monroe Collection

The formula is silky smooth and just effortlessly glides on the lips. All the shades are vibrant and pigmented not to mention comfortable on the lips. They wear well but if you want your lipstick to look polished and give you that perfect pout then I would say use a lip liner – it will also ensure the colour doesn’t bleed throughout the day.

You can really build up the colour on these to be very bold or if you want a red thats a little more subtle for daytime then just apply a small amount and blend it out with your finger. Thats what I have been doing.

These lipsticks are enriched with nourishing grapeseed oil and avocado butter which will help keep your lips feeling soft and stop them drying out.

New Max Factor Marilyn Monroe-Red Lipstick Collection

The packaging of this new collection is bold and really pretty its bright red and gold and stands out in my collection. I like that you can see the colour at the bottom of the bullet so its easy to grab the shade you want. I wouldn’t of considered myself a red lipstick kind of girl but I do like that Max Factor have created a collecton that will suit everyone – very clever and If I had to pick my perfect red from the four it would 100% be Number 3 Marilyn Berry, although come the Summer I think I will be switching it up to Sunset Red.

Have you tried any of the new Marilyn Monroe Collection or have you already found your perfect red?

Dr PawPaw Balm

Dr PawPaw Balm

Dr PawPaw* are a British made multi-purpose balm with antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. The main ingredient in their balms is fermented Pawpaw, which is the fruit of the plant Carica Papaya. The Pawpaw has been found to have many soothing properties for our skin and hair, making it a real ‘go to’ product.

Dr PawPaw’s ingredients & benefits are

Carica Papaya (PawPaw)

This nutrient-rich fruit is full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. It contains calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, vitamins A and C and acetogenins which, when applied externally, helps in aiding skin repair, adding moisture and smoothing and tightening the skin.

Olive Fruit Oil

Olive oil has a variety of benefits for skin and hair due to its vast amount of antioxidants. Olive Oil contains Vitamin A and E but the most potent compound is Hydroxytyrosol. This rare antioxidant prevents free radical damage on skin cells and is absorbed deeply into the skin. It has many anti-inflammatory properties and is great for dry skin and hair.

Aloe Vera

Dr PawPaw Balm

Dr PawPaw Colours

These balms come in handbag friendly squeezy tubes and are perfect for taking with you on the go. I love the bold colourful packaging and think they’re functional & look cute too. I also like that they’re fragrance-free.

I’ve been using the Original Balm mostly as a lip treatment (as my lips are so dry this Winter) and I also like to massage it into my cuticles at night to help keep them soft. The formula is non-greasy and easily absorbed. It has quickly become a staple in my routine now & sits on my bedside table.

The Tinted Peach Pink* & Tinted Ultimate Red* Balms are pretty worn alone on the lips as they give the lips a subtle wash of colour and they also hydrate, protect and soothe the lips. I do also like to layer these on top of a lipstick to add more colour & a little shine. They’re so good for having in your handbag & applying throughout the day as a treatment & a lip colour. I’m never without mine & in particular, I love the Peach Pink, it’s such an easy colour to wear. I have also read that people use these tinted balms on their cheeks, I will be trying that out & think the peach shade will look cute.

You get 25ml of product in each tube and that will last you a very very long time as a little goes a long way. The original balm is an excellent multi-purpose product & the tinted options are fantastic lip colours, which not only give your lips a fresh glossy colour but they also have the same great formula as the Original Balm which will protect your lips all day long!

These balms are a hit with me & I’m currently trying to keep them out of my mums reach as I know she will pinch one from me.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Mrs Mia Wallace*

This beautiful bright ruby red lipstick was part of Urban Decay’s Pulp Fiction Collection. The colour is so intense & I love it. I’m not one to normally wear such bold colours but this is so pretty I love wearing it. The formula is creamy and feels smooth and nice on the lips, this colour does bleed a little but nothing a lip pencil can’t help with. The packaging is as luxurious as the product, it comes in a sleek black bullet with UD embossed on the lid & inside you get a pop of purple.

If you have tried any of the Revolution Lippies let me know what colours you’d recommend as I’d love to try a few more.

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Galaxy

This gloss is a deep plum colour and it looks extremely pigmented and glossy on the lips. It’s really pretty for nights out and I find it easy to apply with the doe foot applicator, but be careful you don’y apply to much. I tend to wipe most of the excess product off the applicator before applying it to my lips. Do note that a little goes a really long way with these. This tube has lasted a year so far & I still have so much product left.

Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy Lipstick in Hot 401*

This is a very pretty deep berry shade, it is so long wearing and applies very smoothly on the lips. It is marketed as a CC Lipstick as it has the moisturising qualities of a lip balm and the pigmentation of a lipstick and I find that this formula looks quite glossy on the lips. I like the formula a lot & like how hydrating it is without compromising on pigmentation Can I just say how luxurious the packaging is too, it has a magnetic close and I love the deep red bullet.

Winter Lipstick Swatches

Collection Lasting Colour Lipstick in Sugar Plum

This is my favourite affordable lipstick, its a bold pink colour and looks fresh and pigmented on the lips. It brightens up my look & feels nice on the lips. I wouldn’t say this formula was long wearing but I don’t mind reapplying this throughout the day. Its a pretty colour so I will forgive its not so good staying power.

DHC Premium Lipstick in Rich Raspberry

I wore this a lot in the Summer but I think its the perfect shade for Winter too. I love berry’s all year really. If you like your lipstick to be hydrating, easy to apply and fresh looking then you will love this one. I find that it lasts a nice amount of time on me, a good couple of hours. If you are eating and drinking they will wear off as they’re a satin finish and quite buttery on the lips but topping them up is so easy too! The packaging of this lipstick is beautiful, the casing is a stunning mix of gold and silver with etched flower detailing. They look very pretty and feel luxurious.

Lord & Berry Twistick in Shut Up*

I love lip crayons and this one is my absolute favourite. They’re a 3 in 1 lip product with the moisturising benefit of a lip balm, the colour of a lipstick and a gloss finish. Perfect! Shut Up is a berry pink and it’s pigmented and very easy to apply. I always have this in my handbag as its so easy to apply on the go & I think the colour is flattering day or night. You can build up the pigmentation to look quite bold or just sweep across your lips for a wash of colour.

Korres Lip Butter in Wild Rose

Such an old faithful of mine. I have been through a couple of these. Its a lip balm with great pigmentation. I like that it doesn’t fell sticky or greasy on the lips. It adds a beautiful pinch of colour and I find that although it is a lip balm in texture the colour is quite long-lasting. Wild Rose is a pretty red berry colour and perfect for daytime. I want to try a few more of these as I just love this one and think they’re great value for money. I featured the Korres Lip Butter in my Winter Makeup edit if you’d like to read it

I have to say I have been enjoying quite a few Korres products lately & its a brand I want to try more from so if you have recommendations let me know.

Tanya Burr Cosmetics – Kiss Me On The Lips

Tanya Burr Cosmetics Lip Gloss

I always shy away from lip glosses, I’m not sure if its my age & I feel a little too old to wear them or if the ones I used to wear were so sticky that the texture annoyed me enough to stop me wearing them. But how could I pass up the opportunity to try out two of lovely Tanya Burr’s glosses. There are currently 12 glosses in the range, a mixture of 5 shimmers and 7 Cream. You can pick from a really nice range of colours from baby pink through to a vibrant red. I’ve seen some mixed reviews and like most people & fellow bloggers I do like to make my own mind up & so It was time to give gloss a 2nd chance.

Tanya Burr Lipgloss

Lip Gloss

I have been testing out two colours the first is Champagne Toast* which is a lovely Apricot Peach with a hint of shimmer. This is a really pretty sheer gloss, so if you’re like me and don’t always like to wear a bold lip, this gives your lips just a touch of colour but nothing OTT. I have worn it a few times over the top of a nude lipstick and that looked really nice too. On its own this is a sheer pretty gloss but don’t expect too much pigment as this shade is quite subtle. I do think its a pretty summery lip colour as it has a slightly orange hue to it & what says summer more like a touch of shimmer. If I was going to a festival (sadly I’m not) I would wear this gloss as you don’t have to worry about it bleeding, its easy to apply, the colour will go with everything & you’ll look fresh and effortless.

Tanya Burr Makeup

First Date* is my favourite of the two shades and that surprised me as I’m not a baby pink kind of girl and never reach for those colours. This is the sweetest shade and it make me look really healthy and added a really nice pop of colour to my lips. I was impressed by the pigmentation of this, and it really translates on to your lips. It looks like there is shimmer when in the tube but that didn’t translate to the lips. Its a shade that makes your complexion look bright and having quite a dull complexion I need all the radiance boosting I can get.

Both of these glosses wore quite well on me and although they’re quite thick in texture they’re in no way sticky or uncomfortable on my lips which was great. The packaging is nice, I can see that they are more targeted at a younger market with Tanya’s photo & signature on the packaging & tube. That aside the packaging is quite nice and simple, you’re able to see the product in the tube and it feels well made. The applicator is quite stiff with a little flexibility and I found this made applying the gloss easy and precise, it picked up just enough product as not to overload the lips & you can build up the gloss if you like. I have to say these smell incredible & sweet and you can smell the scent the whole time its on your lips. Fruity goodness!!

Tanya Burr Lipgloss Swatches

Tanya Burr Lip Glosses

These glosses have a high shine finish and keep your lips feeling moisturised and not greasy, it has a slight tacky finish but that just makes me know my gloss is still on & in place. I know that when the tackiness has faded I need to reapply, its not uncomfortable and I think they wear really well over lipstick too. I need to experiment with a few more lipstick combinations & try to be slightly more adventurous.

I have to say I’m now a lipgloss wearer and fear I’ve been missing out for all these years by dismissing them, I have some catching up to do. So Thank you Tanya for rekindling my love for glossy lips, this could be the start of an expensive addiction (buys ALL the lipglosses).

Cute Tanya Burr Lip gloss

I’m excited to see what Tanya releases next in to her collection, if the quality of these glosses is anything to go by she is set to do very well & I wish her all the very best. What an exciting journey (I want her to release a line of eyeshadows). If you have tried anything from Tanya’s range let me know what you thought & what colours you would recommend.
