January 2015 Empties

Kleenex Shine Sheets – I talk about these all the time, they’re unfortunately discontinued but I did manage to find some in Home Bargain a while ago and so I stocked up on quite a few. I like to carry them with me just to keep the shine at bay, it means I have to powder less throughout the day. A pack of 50 sheets lasts me over a month & they’re handy to have especially in the warmer months.

Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo – I bought this from the Poundshop & love to try a new dry shampoo. Since I had my hair cut into a short bob I don’t wash it as often and dry shampoo has become my best friend. This one did leave a slight white cast but it also did a very good job at absorbing the oil of 3 day hair. I liked how it gave my hair volume & texture too. I would buy the full size of this.

Molton Brown Thai Vert Hand Cream – I had the hand wash in the same scent & really like them both. I think I prefer the hand wash over the handcream. The handcream lasted me a whole year, its a little greasy but the scent is uplifting and fresh. I wouldn’t buy the handcream again. I think there are better quality ones available.

Grace Cole Pink Grapefruit & Watermelon Handwash* – OMG did this last me for ages. I decanted it into a smaller bottle, so it did’t look as industrial in my bathroom. I have to say the packaging might be a little large (500ml) but the product itself was really nice. It smells so fruity and tropical, it didn’t dry out my hands and left them feeling smooth and clean. I was quite impressed & its a brand I hadn’t heard of before but I will be checking out a few more products from them as they’re affordable and great quality.

Eucerin Micellar Water* – This was an effective makeup remover but I used it up quite quickly. It didn’t sting my eyes or dry out my skin. I do think the Garnier Micellar Water is better but this is still a great option if you are able to purchase it on offer. I reviewed it more in depth here.

Moroccan Oil Hair Treatment – I do like this & thought it was incredible, until I tried a few other hair oils & I realised that they were just as good. Moroccan Oil has a hefty price tag & I think the Avon hair oil, Dr Organic & OGX hair oils are all just as good.

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask – I adore this mask & I like to use it as an overnight treatment if my skin is dry or needs a boost of hydration. Although I think this also works well as a face mask for 30 minutes. I get almost the same results. Its great as a winter mask, it gives your skin a little help combating the effects of the central heating.

Origins Clear Improvement Mask – Another great mask, I like to use this once a week to balance my skin and help draw out all the grime & dirt. It helps keep my skin clear & less oily. I think this is a staple in most peoples skincare regime. Its a mask you can always count on.

Jane Packer Fig, Sandalwood & Amber Perfume – This is a beautiful fragrance, I’m sad its all used up & will have to replace it asap. My favourite scent is Fig & this has Sandalwood and Amber thrown in too which make for a sophisticated beautiful fragrance. I have written a little more about the perfume & Jane Packer here.

Seventeen Back Lash Mascara – This is a really good jet black mascara. It didn’t clump or flake & when I wanted bolder looking lashes it was buildable. It gives volume and separates my lashes making them look a lot thicker. I would 100% buy this again. If you’re looking for a purse friendly mascara then I recommend this one.

My Spring Fragrances

I don’t often change up my perfume depending on season, as I tend to wear the same scents all the time. I have a small perfume collection which makes it easy to pick which one to wear each day, but I have three perfumes in my collection which I think will be perfect for the warmer months and they are:-

Spring scents

Roger & Gallet Eau Sublime Or Bois D’Orange* 100ml for £32.00

A floral heart of ylang-ylang, orange blossom and coconut flower make for a sensual signature, while a dry down of sweet and sunny Moroccan cedarwood, vanilla and musk create a feeling of pure pleasure.

This is gorgeous, I’ve been wearing this as my evening perfume because it not only has a beautiful fresh citrus scent but it also has a touch of glamour with delicate flecks of gold shimmer running through it. I like citrus, feminine scents and I love that it has something extra with the touch of glitz, the shimmer is subtle so don’t be put off by that. I think it looks pretty on the skin. The bottle also looks pretty on your dressing table.

If you’re not familiar with Roger & Gallet they’re a French Perfumery House founded in 1862 by merchant Charles Armand Roger and banker Charles Martial Gallet, their products have such a rich history & they are famous for their perfumes and body products. They have a wide selection of products and you can find them in larger M&S Stores and also at www.marksandspencer.com.

Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin 100ml £78.00

Our signature fragrance. Peppery basil and aromatic white thyme bring an unexpected twist to the scent of limes on a Caribbean breeze. A modern classic.

This is a long standing favourite of mine, my husband even recognised the scent of this and has successfully purchased it for me on a few occasions. When I wear this so many people ask me what it is, even though I can no longer smell it on myself. I think this is my most worn fragrance and I feel like me when I wear this. It smells sweet but not overpowering it is so fresh and is the perfect scent for the warmer months. This 100ml bottle lasts me a year and I spray it liberally (no holding back). This is my little piece of luxury and I treasure each bottle.

If you haven’t been into Jo Malone, you must visit a store and test their range I guarantee you will fall in love with at least one for their many offerings. I go to their Liverpool or Edinburgh stores and both are very friendly and the staff take time to explain how to find the right scent for you, their stores are very pretty and instantly make you feel calm. It’s a lovely experience.

Spring Fragrance

Jane Packer Fig & Sandalwood Amber Eau de Parfum 50ml for £39.00

The green fig note brings freshness to the transparent white flower heart. The driftwood and sandalwood combination adds complexity and a sensual accent. The sandalwood and amber capture the attention in the moments after application.

Jane Packer is a world renowned florist and she released a fragrance line in 2010. The fragrance I have is the Fig & Sandalwood Amber, it is absolutely beautiful. If something has fig in it, I need to have it. I love Fig scented products they smell like my childhood (grew up in Cyprus). This is quite a heavy scent at first but it dries down to smell fresh, light and very soothing. It has been the perfume I’ve been reaching for day to day, it is very long wearing and I can still smell it on myself hours after first sprayed.

The bottle is sleek and feminine, the lid is shaped like a flower, it looks grown up and luxurious. Very simple but pretty. It is a lovely perfume to have in my collection and I enjoy wearing it very much.

What are you go to perfumes and do you change them up depending on the season?

Jane Packer Fig & Sandalwood Amber

My Aunt bought this for my Christmas and I think she was unaware that Fig is one of my all time favourite scents and this fragrance from Jane Packer is just beautiful. I had never heard of this brand before but after a little look online I discovered that Jane Packer is a world renowned florist and she released a fragrance line in 2010. The fragrance I have is the Fig & Sandalwood Amber, it is absolutely beautiful, I have worn it everyday since Christmas..

Jane Packer Jane Packer

Jane Packer has described this 100% better than I could,

The green fig note brings freshness to the transparent white flower heart. The driftwood and sandalwood combination adds complexity and a sensual accent. The sandalwood and amber capture the attention in the moments after application.

It smells so fresh and sophisticated. The scent lasts a very long time, I can still smell it on my scarf and I haven’t sprayed it on there for a couple of days. The packaging is luxurious and feels very nice, the bottle is tall and slim and the lid is shaped like a  flower and gives it an extra special touch. It is so beautiful. I noticed there is a candle in the Fig range & I have to have that, I think it will be a New Years gift for myself. I’m so pleased with this and I love being introduced to new brands and products.

This fragrance is available from the Jane Packer online shop 50ml for £39.oo
