5 From L’Oreal

Five products from L'Oreal

I own quite a few L’Oreal products so it was hard to narrow it down to just five but after much deliberation I have decided these are my current 5 favourites. Let me know in the comments what your favourite / most used products from L’Oreal are.

5 Products From L'Oreal

L’Oreal True Match Foundation in the shade Vanilla £9.99

This is the first ever L’Oreal Foundation I’ve tried and I have been so impressed with it. I would say it gives a medium coverage, you can still see all my (hundreds) of freckles which I like so it looks natural and wears really well. It doesn’t oxidise on me and my oily skin seems to only start looking shiny after about 6 hours wear & then I lightly dust some powder on and its good for a few more hours. I think it looks really good on & it feels lightweight on my skin and doesn’t break me out. Its one of my most used foundations & I have quite a few.

L’Oreal Glam Bronzer £10.30

This is a two toned bronzer, you get a lighter highlighter shade & a deeper brown shade.  Its the same concept as my much loved Solar Powder but the brown / bronze shade in this duo is a little darker which is perfect for Summer. This duo gives the skin an illuminating glow – I wouldn’t use this to contour as it does have a pearlescent sheen, I think its used best as a bronzing highlighter. It gives the skin a little warmth and a subtle glow. The packaging is great too, very travel friendly & it has a mirror too.

L’Oreal Color Riche Smoky Quad in Rose Memories £7.99

Hello my perfect shades, these are so pretty and very me. I have been trying to shop my stash every week & I forgot I had this quad, I bought it last year & used it all the time then like most makeup items it was forgotten about. I am so glad I’ve rediscovered it because it is gorgeous. This quad isn’t for matte eyeshadow fans because all four colours have shimmer in them, its not disco ball glitter but they have a hint of shimmer / frost finish .I love the darkest plum colour & think it looks so pretty worn alone all over the lid. The packaging of this is slim and compact it looks and feels quite luxurious.

L'Oreal Quad

L’Oreal Superliner Black Lacquer £5.50

When I wear eyeliner 99% of the time it is black liquid eyeliner & I have tried a few amazing ones & even more terrible ones. I have to say that as a rule of thumb the L’Oreal liquid liners are some of the best I have used. Their pigmentation is so good – jet black, they wear all day without wearing off unevenly and they never transfer on to the upper part of my eye (I hate it when eyeliner does that). I also find L’Oreal liners last months without drying out. I’m currently using the Superliner one and love how flexible the nib is & how precise you can make your winged liner look!

L'Oreal Paris Color Riche La Palette Nude Beige L'Oreal La Palette Nude Beige Swatches

L’Oreal La Palette Nude in Beige £14.99

I have the original Rose palette too but I was so happy when L’Oreal released this one, I had to have it. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you will know that I love a neutral palette & this one is sleek & has a great sized mirror too. You get 10 neutral eyeshadows, 6 mattes and 4 shimmers so a good mix. 9 of the shadows have really great pigmentation the first lightest shade is the only one that is a little chalky but the other 9 shades are beautiful. You get a pretty selection of wearable colours, ranging from champagnes, bronzy browns, golden browns to some beautiful darker browns & a blue / grey shade to finish off the palette.

I love the shade range in this palette & think this is a very handy palette to travel with. I never deviate from a neutral eye so I know this has every shade I would need. The shadows are easy to work with and there is very little fall out. So this gets two thumbs up from me & I am so happy I managed to track one down.

Do we share any of the same favourites from L’Oreal?

Keeping it Neutral

I have a fair few neutral palettes in my collection and although they all get used quite a lot, I thought I would share four of them with you.

Neutral Eyeshadow Palettes

VIVO Colour Block Palette in Unprotected – This palette has 12 shadows and you get a lovely range of neutral colours and finishes. There are 3 matte colours and the rest have an almost frost / pearl finish to them, they’re really pretty. I found they blended well if you take your time. The darker shades are more pigmented & the lighter ones are more powdery but nothing you can’t tap off. There is no mirror inside but you get great value for money, it’s a great high street palette. 8.4g for £3.99

I bought this palette in Tesco a couple of years ago but from what I can tell they no longer sell VIVO, but you can buy their range online at www.vivocosmetics.co.uk

L’Oreal La Palette Nude in Rose – I was drawn to this in Boots & couldn’t resist it despite it being quite pricey. The packaging feels luxurious and its nice and slim with a go0d sized mirror in, so perfect for for travel & popping in your makeup bag. You get 6 shimmers & 4 matte shadows. As with most drugstore palettes the matte shades aren’t great, I found them to be hard to blend and you don’t get that much colour pay off. You can make them work by building them up if you have time. The other 6 shades are beautiful and more than makeup for the disappointing mattes. Much to my surprise I really like the darkest plum colour & think its the most beautiful Autumn / Winter colour. 10g for £14.99

What I like most about this palette is that none of the shadows are overly shimmery but instead more metallic and very long wearing.

Catrice Absolute Nude – I bought this whilst in Amsterdam it has 6 neutral shadows but none of them are matte. So this is for people that like a bit of shimmer. I know thats not to everyones taste. This isn’t the best budget friendly palette out there and this is the one palette out of the four that I would say you need to use a primer as the lighter colours crease and aren’t that pigmented. I tend to use the last darkest brown shade the most, its pretty and pigmented.

The packaging is sturdy and quite sleek, it doesn’t have a mirror and the brush that comes with it is pretty useless (aren’t they always).

Makeup Revolution Disappear Till Tomorrow – This palette is so slim and travel friendly although it does feel quite cheap, inside you get fourteen eyeshadows and two brow powders. Two of the shadows are matte and the rest are a mixture of pearl and shimmer finishes. If like me you are addicted to a neutral smokey eye then you will love this palette. Even the two matte shades are good quality. I must admit I don’t use the brow colours so can’t comment on them but it is nice to see a high street brand including them in a palette. You get fourteen pigmented eyeshadows and thats a lot for £4.00. I know Makeup Revolution have a huge selection of palettes, let me know if you have tried any & what you would recommend. 5.7g for £4.00.

If I had to pick my two favourite palettes they would be the Vivo Colour Block and the L’Oreal La Palette Nude. I would say don’t buy the Catrice one its not great value for money & Essence do a much better neutral palette.

Four Neutral Eyeshadow Palettes

Passing Along #1

I have been meaning to do this for a while, I quite often keep things in my collection just because I can’t bear to let them go & also keep items that I no longer use or enjoy. I have been trying to get better at letting go & passing these products on to friends & family. Being a beauty addict I review lots of products but there is no way I can keep them all & quite often they’re not right for me.

I remember earlier this year Jennie from SailorJennie did a series of Spring Cleaning posts & those inspired me to do a little Spring (Autumn) cleaning of my own. I’m due to move within the next two months so this is a task that needed to be undertaken. There will be a few more of these posts over the coming months but this is the first wave of products I’m letting go of.

Makeup Im Passing On Make Up Im Passing On

Avon Ultra Colour Lip Crayon – This is a pretty glossy pigmented jumbo lip crayon in the shade Carefree Coral. I love the vibrant colour but it has quite a lot of shimmer in it too & when I bought it from the Avon catalogue I didn’t know that. I’m not a fan of shimmery lip products and for that reason I just won’t wear it & I know someone that will love it.

L’Oreal Lumi Magique Base – This is a light infusing primer and It looks pretty under makeup or I also like to add a few drops to my foundation and that helps my complexion look radiant. I wouldn’t say it works particularly well as a primer so I don’t use it that way, I stick to using it as a skin illuminator. But I’m passing this along because I have a NARS one that I’m using & also a Clarins one. So before this gets to its use by date I’m passing it along.

Covergirl Eye Enhancers in Urban Basics – This is a palette full of neutral colours, I bought it in America last year but I’ve reached for it so few times since coming home. I have quite a few palettes with similar shades & that are better quality too. So its time to let someone else enjoy this one, my niece is only young & I think she would love experimenting with these.

e.l.f Jumbo Eyeshadow Stick – I have a few of these & really like the consistency and pigmentation. This one is in the shade Rock Out. I’m quite addicted to eye crayons as they’re so easy and effortless to wear. This is a pewter shade with a hint of gold shimmer & its just not getting enough love in my collection. I’m keeping the colours Little Miss Thing & French Lace.

Shu Uemura Pressed Eyeshadow Duo – Light Pink 125 & Soft Pink 155. These are beautiful buttery pigmented shadows but what was I thinking buying Pink, especially as there are 70+ colours to pick from!? I love the thought of wearing these & have tried to make them work but I just don’t suit pink & so these will be passed on with a much sadness & I will treat myself to two more neutral colours from Shu Uemura & make sure I use them a lot!

Avon Ideal Flawless Pressed Powder – Its amazing how many powders I have accumulated & this has been languishing at the bottom of my drawer for a few months now. I have 3 powders currently on the go so don’t really need this one. This is a great powder & is good for oil control, the packaging is sleek, black and feels luxurious so I know someone will give this powder a lot of love.

NYX  Roll On Shimmer* – I was lucky enough to win a few NYX products last year on Twitter & I have a few of these roll on shimmer eyeshadows but this silver one isn’t really me. It will be perfect for the Festive Season & will glam up someones look. I know exactly who to pass this on to, Jillian if you’re reading this keep any eye out for this coming your way.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer*- I love this concealer & its been getting a lot of love from me but I have a couple of new ones to test out & don’t want to risk this going out of date with a lot of product left. This is a great concealer for blemishes & under eyes. It is quite thick so takes some blending. I have heard a few people say this broke them out but I haven’t had any issues.

Let me know what you do with unwanted or overspill makeup, do you pass it on or do you find it hard to part with it.

Products that are marked with an * have either been sent to me for my consideration or I’ve received at events. I’m under no obligation to review them on my blog. However if I do, the reviews are 100% my own.
