As I get older I always say to family & friends “let’s not do gifts this year lets just get together and enjoy a meal and a few drinks”. I especially love Christmas for giving us so many excuses to spend time together and it makes me so grateful for all the amazing people I have in my life. That being said it is nice to have something under the tree to open on Christmas morning even if it just one lovely gift, and my husband always gets the most thoughtful presents for me. I like to ask for something special, something I don’t often buy myself and for me that is perfume.
A fragrance for me is such a treat and that’s what makes it the perfect gift to both give and receive. There are so many incredible scents and this year I wanted to add back to my collection a scent that I used to wear a lot a few years ago. We all have that one perfume which never gets old and that for me is Marc Jacobs Daisy. It is such an iconic scent and the bottle is instantly recognisable with the cap adorned with pretty daisies, I haven’t owned it for so long but I’m thrilled to have it for 2018.
It is beautiful, timeless fragrance and one that can be worn by all ages. It is such a mix of fruity, floral and fresh notes that it never smells overpowering of too intense. It reminds me of so many happy moments, birthdays, holidays and getting my job at RBS. It has been a favourite of mine for so long and it was my Mum that first introduced me to it and she still wears it too, so we have the same great taste in perfume.
Top notes of wild berries and soft white violets
Heart notes of velvety jasmine
Base notes of sandalwood
What perfume would you love to receive this Christmas? do you have your heart set on a new release or a classic, iconic scent?
I personally think fragrance make such a lovely product to both give and receive at Christmas and the great thing is lots of brands have fantastic offers at this time of year, many release special gift sets too. Fragrance is one of those luxuries that we don’t always treat ourselves too throughout the year, so that makes them the perfect gift.
I have rounded up a few of my favourites and I think there is something to suit all ages and budgets.
Now this latest version is a fresh take on one of the most iconic fragrances, NUIT BLANCHE translates to ‘White Night’, a night in Paris once a year when rock chicks take control and make the city their playground until dawn, so its a scent that won’t let you down and will stay smelling incredible all night long. This new take on the classic scent is a more seductive white coffee floral fragrance designed to give the wearer a burst of energy to last through the night. It has Top notes of White Coffee Accord. Heart notes of White Flowers, Aldehydes and Base notes of White Musk.
Everything about Black Opium feels luxurious, the bottle is a translucent black glass infused with gorgeous sparkling glitter which makes it look so glitzy and pretty. As with all YSL products it is beautiful quality and you feel indulgant using it, it would make such a thoughtful gift for someone special this Christmas.
I love this perfume, it is the latest release from Stella McCartney and has already become quite a cult favourite. The bottle is bold, pink and very modern and I think this more youthful vibe is reflected in the fragrance too. It has Top notes of Tomato leaves, Violet leaves, Green Mandarin, Heart notes of Violet, Tuberose, Plumeria and base notes of Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Musks. So a real mix of woody, citrus and floral, despite it being quite complex it settles down to being quite musky and a little masculin. This is a very nice scent for anyone that enjoys a scent that is a little different.
This is a new release for 2016 and Its such a pretty fragrance. As you would expect from Michael Kors, it’s more of a romantic, feminine scent. It has notes of Italian Bergamot, Sicillian Mandarin, Almond Milk, Pink Pepper. Heart notes of Jasmine Grandiflorum Absolute, Dianthus, Jasmine Sambac Absolute, Heliotrope. Base notes of Cashmeran Wood, Benzoin Siam, Sandalwood Sri Lanka. I would say it is more of a fragrance for the warmer months because it is such a smooth, refreshing scent. Its has a very unusual mix of citrus and spicy notes which work so well together.
This is a perfume for anyone that likes their warm, sweet scents but with an intense twist. BON BON Couture is a more intense version of the hugely popular BON BON. It has notes of Mandarin Orange, Neroli, Peach. Heart Notes of Orange Blossom, Jasmine Sambac, Caramel. Base Notes of Patchouli, Sandalwood, Vanilla, White Tobacco. So although it is sweet it isn’t as sweet as this original, this version is a little more rich and sexy rather than sweet and girly.
The bottle itself is just gorgeous, it comes in a pretty purple / pink ombre effect bottle which feels very luxurious and heavy. It is shaped like a wrapped sweet (candy), its very feminine and looks pretty sat on your dressing table. Viktor & Rolf always deliver on quality and this new release won’t let you down.
I always spray this when I am walking through duty free at the airport and by the time I get on the plane I wish I had bought it. It is a lovely crisp modern scent with notes of Red Apple African Orange Flower and White Flowers and base notes of Sandalwood, Olive Tree and Vanilla. Its a nice mix of warm, fresh notes which make this such a nice fragrance to wear. This scent lasts a good amount of time on me and I think it makes the perfect daytime scent. It’s ideal for anyone that likes quite a modern twist on a citrus scent. It is the only Hugo Boss fragrance that I have actually liked and I urge you to give the tester a go and let it settle for a few minutes, I guarantee you will love it.
This is a new twist on one of Tommy Hilfigers most iconic scent. They have updated it and given it a more modern feel. It is a nice fragrance for a teenager or young adult as it is light but pretty scent. It has top notes of green pear, violet leaf and fig leaf. Heart notes of jasmine petals and silky muguet. Base notes of cedarwood and cashmeran. So its quite crisp and fresh at first but it settles down to be more of a warm scent. This is a very easy perfume to wear and would make an ideal daytime fragrance.
