Yardley London are synonymous with floral fragrance, this iconic perfume house dates as far back as 1770, they’re a British brand who have specialised in creating fine fragrance for over 250 years. They have really evolved over the years becoming modern and fun but still holding on to their classic, and timeless florals offering fantastic value for money.  More recently, they released a collection of 6 beautiful flower based scents. They range from the more fruity to the fresh and even a stunning woody option too. I have been trying the classic Decadent Mimosa, which is a lovely zesty, modern take on a classic floral perfume.

Opening with the spicy fruit notes of mandarin, pear and pink pepper, the indulgent green floral fragrance of Decadent Mimosa leads to a beautiful sunny heart of fresh, sweet and bright mimosa flowers.

Combining powdery violet, iris and lily of the valley, resting on a sensual base of sandalwood, vanilla and musk.

This dewy, fresh & rich scent will transport you to Spring/Summer days, it has gorgeous floral notes that are not what you’d expect from a classic Yardley fragrance. It is a real nod to more modern and luxurious perfumes. This budget friendly perfume really surprised me. I love the opening fruity notes, they’re very zesty and fresh and the heart notes are fresh and floral whilst the musk and sandalwood base notes give it a very romantic edge.

The packaging is simple but pretty, the box is very bright and is covered in lovely yellow mimosa flowers. The bottle is timeless and elegant. I use the change in seasons as an excuse to switch up my beauty routine especially my fragrance. I like more of a fresh, light scent as we head into Summer, one that reflects how much I enjoy this time of year. I can already tell you that one of these scents has already won me over and is set to become very much a signature scent for me. Scents are able to evoke memories and take us on a journey so picking a new scent is important and can stay with us for years.

I have two beautiful Summer appropriate scents to share with you, I’d love it if you let me know in the comments what perfume you like to wear during the warmer months.

Givenchy Live Irresistible Perfume

Givenchy Live Irrésistible EDP délicieuse

This beautiful fragrance comes packaged in a pretty pink box which depicts a classic Parisian scene. The tall triangular bottle is very striking with an etched studded pattern on two sides. Givenchy say it is a contrast between elegance and modernity.

This Délicieuse version of Givenchy’s best selling Live Irresistible scent is a sweet mix of edible gourmand notes and a floral bouquet which make it a really fun, youthful fragrance. The original offering had more of a zesty, floral scent and although this latest version keeps its Rose heart notes I think it will appeal to people that like their fragrance to be more sugary sweet. It contains notes of,

  • Top Notes: Madeleine Accord, Cherry
  • Heart Notes: Rose Essentielle, Orange Blossom
  • Base Notes: Tonka Bean, Iris, Bitter Almond, Vanilla, Caramel

This fragrance is like Summer in a bottle. A delicious cocktail of sweet, floral and warming caramel notes give it a juicy scent. At first the smell is quite intense and you can really smell the zesty, tart notes but once it settles down the Almond and Caramel notes come through which give it depth and more of a warming but still quite sweet scent.

If you are looking for a Summer scent with a flirty, fun & youthful feel to it I 100% recommend this latest Givenchy release. It’s sweet, juicy & floral cocktail make it the perfect fragrance for those warm Summer days.

Gucci Bamboo Perfume

Gucci Bamboo Limited Edition EDP

This classic Gucci fragrance is the same original sexy woody floral scent but now comes in a stunning limited edition bottle. This updated version comes beautifully packaged in a pretty dusky pink outer box with drawings of a bamboo garden scene. Whilst the bottle itself is a gorgeous blush pink with its art deco inspired silhouette and silver bamboo stopper. It looks and feels extremely luxurious and the packaging really reflects the strong, feminine Gucci Bamboo scent.

I think this perfume is very modern, sexy and has a refreshing sophisticated feel to it. The mix of woody, floral and sweet notes work really well layered together and I adore the citrus twist of the bergamot which adds such a Summer vibe to the scent.

  • Top Notes– Italian Bergamot
  • Heart Notes – Casablanca Lily & Ylang-Ylang
  • Base Notes – Sandalwood

I like that this isn’t an overpowering scent which works well for Summer, you like your perfume to be more fresh and uplifting in the warmer months. The floral notes make it just ideal for Summer and it’s woody notes settle down to give it a sophisticated feel. I do also like that there is also a juicy sweetness to it whilst the Sandalwood and Bergamot add a rich contrast and once it settles down it’s a juicy, refreshing but sophisticated scent. I adore it.

Luxurious GUCCI Bamboo Perfume

Two very different scents for Summer but both are feminine and very pretty. I would say the Gucci Bamboo has stolen my heart and has become my go to fragrance. I think this scent suits me more than the Givenchy Live Irrésistible Delicieuse only because it is less sweet and I tend to gravitate towards more woody scents. Although I am enjoying the lighthearted feel to Givenchy Live Irrésistible Delicieuse and have been wearing it as more of a day scent.

If you are not familiar with Roger & Gallet they’re a French Perfumery House founded in 1862 by merchant Charles Armand Roger and banker Charles Matial Gallet, their products have such a rich history & they are very well-known for their affordable perfumes and body products. I’m a big fan of their Fleur de Figuier perfume.

This Eau des Bienfaits range is much more Summery and invigorating, I have been trying the body mist and think its a lovely light citrus scent perfect for the warmer months or if you’re lucky enough to be heading somewhere with some Winter Sunshine!

Top Notes: Mandarin, Bergamot, Lemon

Heart Notes: Blood Orange, Violet Leaves, Orange Blossom

Base Notes: Cedar, Patchouli

This is a little different to most body mists I have tried because not only does it smell incredible but it also has hydrating qualities too. I’ve never used a body mist with skincare benefits incorporated into the ingredients. Roger & Gallet have included Aloe Vera, Kiwi and Ginseng which all help hydrate and soften the skin. I find its nice to mist this on your body whilst you’re still damp from your shower, that way the scent lasts longer on the skin and helps it feel smooth and soft. It’s getting all the thumbs up from me.

Beautiful Citrus Summer Scent From Roger & Gallet

This lightweight but zesty citrus scent transports me right back to family holidays in the Mediterranean, it smells like fresh warm Summer evenings. I do love a nice citrus scent that isn’t too tart and I think the notes of Cedar & Patchouli help it smell more sophisticated and add a little depth to the refreshing scent. When I use this in the morning it’s uplifting and invigorating scent helps get me get ready for the day.

Roger & Gallet always have such beautiful packaging and this body mist comes in a stunning deep orange bottle that reminds me of Summer sunsets. It is a luxurious feeling heavy glass bottle with their signature style lid with the Roger & Gallet gold logo, I love their attention to detail and the bottle gives this product a very sophisticated feel.

Spring saw the release of the DKNY Delicious Delights – A limited edition collection of fragrances inspired by Sweet Sorbet Treats. These Sorbet Perfumes come in the iconic Be Delicious apple packaging which is something we all recognise and associate with DKNY. The bottles are really pretty and I like that they’re frosted glass and pastel coloured, perfect for Spring / Summer, mine looks so cute on my vanity.

The scents themselves are quite sweet and fresh but each one is so different. I was drawn to Cool Swirl* (green) because although it’s quite sweet it still has a musky layer to it and that’s my kind of scent.

Cool Swirl (green) – is a refreshing tropical scent with top notes of black cranberry (or European blueberry), violet leaf and coconut water. Flowers of magnolia and jasmine are wrapped in creamy pistachio sorbet and laid on the base of heliotrope, musk and patchouli.

Dreamsicle (orange) – is a fresh fruity blend of mandarin, raspberry and blueberry at the top. Tempting and delicious aromas of green apple, peach nectar and apricot sorbet form the heart. Its creamy base consists of cedar, sandalwood and vanilla.

Fruity Rooty (lilac) – is a sweet fruity scent that opens with a combination of blackberry, blueberry and mandarin. The heart of rose, violet and candied apple sorbet is followed by the base that combines elegant lily with vanilla.

DKNY Summer Scent

I have been using Cool Swirl for a good few months now, reaching for it when the weather is warm outside. It is my Summer scent for sure, when I first spray it I can really smell the fruity notes but as it settles down the patchouli and musk come through and it smells so good. Its the perfect fun, refreshing summer scent, I think its more of a daytime scent just because it’s quite light and fresh. Cool Swirl does last quite a long time on me which is good news because the packaging is a little bulky to be carrying around in your handbag.
