Lacura Thermal Spring Facial Care* £1.99

This is a new release from Aldi’s skincare brand Lacura, who seem to produce some of the best affordable skincare on the highstreet. I have tried quite a few of their products and they always impress me. This Thermal Spring Moisturiser comes packaged in a frosted glass jar which makes the product feel luxurious and a lot more expensive than it is.

The cream its self is formulated for stressed, sensitive skin and is infused with natural thermal water to soothe and moisturise the skin. It contains containing minerals and trace elements which come from natural, mineral groundwater that emerges from the ground at a temperature of over 20°C. This makes a really nice daily moisturiser that does a good job at hydrating and soothing the skin. There is no SPF in this so you will need to wear a separate one but I really like this and think it would appeal to all ages. I want to try a few more products from this thermal spring line and think this is another wonderful release from Lacura.

Superdrug Vitamin E Nourishing Eye Cream £2.99

I really like a lot of products from Superdrug’s own skincare line and think they make such great quality affordable options. I’ve been using this eye cream religiously since December at I still have quite a bit of product left. You need only a pea sized amount for both eyes and I just tap it in around the orbital bone and it helps to hydrate, nourish and smooth that area. Its not the lightest in texture but if you tap it in until its absorbed it doesn’t leave the eye area feeling greasy. Its very gentle and never irritates my eyes. I also like the cleanser and moisturiser from this Vitamin E range. For £2.99 I highly recommend trying it out.

Garnier Skin Active Clearly Brighter SPF15 Moisturiser

This is a lightweight daily moisturiser that helps hydrate, brighten and smooth out my skin. Its non greasy and absorbs quickly, It also smooths out my skin so I find it wears well under my makeup. It has contains anti oxidant rich Vitamin C and E as well as gentle exfoliating Lip-Hydroxyl Acid (salicylic acid). This is a great affordable moisturiser, especially if you have dull skin and its a nice option for the warmer months because it is lightweight on the skin. It does have a light citrus scent to it which isn’t offensive but I do with it was fragrance free and I would have preferred it to have a higher SPF but I do like this moisturiser and have been using it a lot over the past 4 months.

Superdrug Simply Pure Hydrating Serum £2.69

I seem to be all about the skincare that soothes, hydrates & nourishes (I have dull, dehydrated skin) and this absolute bargain of a serum from Superdrug is one of the best I have EVER tried. Bold claims I know. I was introduced to this by The Ting Thing who sings its praises & I trust her opinion 100%,  so I had to track it down (its almost always sold out in my local Superdrug).

I’m now on to my 3rd bottle and I’m still loving using it because it just leaves my skin feeling so incredibly soft and my fine lines are reduced because it is extremely hydrating. It contains Hyluronic Acid which helps your skin retain moisture, most of us skincare addicts have heard of this wonder ingredient and I was surprised to see that this purse friendly serum had this listed as an ingredient. So its a fantastic serum if your skin is in need of hydration and is looking a little lackluster. It feels light on the skin and doesn’t take long for it to skink in. It is also fragrance free and alcohol free which is wonderful news if you have sensitive skin.

If I could recommend only one of my four favourite affordable products it would 100% be the Simply Pure Hydrating Serum – its a steal at £2.69 (you best be adding it to your MUST try list).

Miss Sporty Makeup Review

Miss Sporty Haul

Miss Sporty Trio

I saw Superdrug were having a 3 for 2 & I decided to sample a makeup brand that is budget friendly and that I had never tried before. Miss Sporty is a brand I remember from being quite young although I haven’t used their makeup before. They had quite a wide range but these 3 products took my fancy.

First up is this So Matte Perfect Stay Smooth Pressed Powder – I went for the shade 001 light. It promises to last all day (which I doubt) and to also minimise shine and give you a natural matte finish. I like the sound of that. Like most people I tend to use the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and would like to give something different a go. So will be putting it to the test next week. The packaging is nice and you get a large mirror in the lid and it is hot pink! £1.99 for 9.4g

Next is this pretty Cat’s Eyes Palette 004 Mineral Earth and this is what caught my attention & hooked me in. It is pretty and has 4 pretty wearable shades. They feel quite creamy & I swatched the tester in store & was shocked at how pretty and pigmented the 2 darker brown shades were. £3.99

Lastly I noticed this Liquid Concealer With Vitamins E & C – I bought the shade 001 light – I’ve tried so many concealers from budget to high-end and they almost all crease like hell on my under eye area. The best I have found so far is the Rimmel Wake Me Up which is good but not amazing. I thought why not give this a go, From swatching it, it feels creamy but not heavy and is quite easy to blend. I am going to wear it this weekend and see how well it works under my eyes. £2.99 for 5ml.

Miss Sporty Makeup

Have you tried anything from Miss Sporty? I liked the look of a few nail polishes, so I will see how I get on with these three products and then I might pop back and try a few more products.

Draw The Line

Rimmel Sandaleyes Liners

A few weeks ago I received a Boots gift card for my birthday which I quickly spent on makeup. Shock horror. Boots were having their 3 for 2 across all makeup items so I picked up a fair few things 3 of those being some Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliners. These are fabulous. I had wanted to try them for a while and had seen some really good reviews about the Nude colour, I was excited to try them out.

Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Black, Nude and Bronze

I’ve always been a huge fan of coloured eyeliner (I went back and got the blue and silver ones too) – even if it looks a little 80’s. I’ve found these waterproof Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohls really do stay put all day and I’m a devil for rubbing and messing with my eyes throughout the day and these stay put regardless. Rimmel claim they will withstand ‘tears, sweat, humidity’ and they don’t lie. These are stubborn and I was shocked with how well they lasted esp as they’re only £3.99.

They glide on the eye with minimum effort and they do not drag at all. They’re creamy and all of the ones I have tried (5 in total) are all really pigmented without having to go over and over the same line. They are an inexpensive way to get a flash of colour that will stay all day. Perfect for me as I hate to reapply when I am out and rarely carry much makeup with me .

The nude colour is perfect for the waterline to brighten tired eyes and make them look bigger. The black is a great bold black it’s really quite dark and that deep colour transfers well on to the lid or waterline. I also like the bronze shade for when I wear a neutral eye and it blends so well. It has a slight shimmer to it. Not glittery but when the light hits it looks almost metallic it’s really pretty.

These eyeliners come in 7 shades from a classic black to a gorgeous silver. I highly recommend you try to pick these up esp when on offer. Full price they are £3.99 from Boots. Such a total bargain. Have you tried any of these Rimmel eyeliners? How did you find them?

Lovely New Things

Before I went to Amsterdam I’d made a few purchases that I forgot to blog about. So better late than never right. These are the what I bought.

Where I lived before in Dundee they had the worst selection of MUA products on the planet. Its used to drive me mental. I so wanted to see the full collection and instead had to put up with a few things from their £1 range. This did not go down well with me. So you can imagine my delight upon moving to Manchester & discovering the most well stocked MUA stand I’ve ever seen. I was in product heaven & may of even let out a little squeal of delight when I saw it. So excited when I saw this…….

Ok so after I calmed down I picked up two MUA palettes the Undressed palette and the Heaven and Earth palette for £4 each. Both are amazing. I’m sure most of you own them by now. I’m very late to that party. From MUA I also picked up their Eye Primer which I’ve heard lots of good things about which is £2.50.

BarryM had a deal on their nail polish in Superdrug where it was 2 for £5 i picked up the shades Block Orange 301 and Pink Iridescent 264. I had to pick up the orange shade as it was jut such a POP of colour. The pink iridescent is beautiful too and looks great as a glittery top coat. You can’t really go wrong with a BarryM polish.

I also picked up a Accessorize baked eyeshadow in Golden Brown it’s a lovely copper toned colour with a little golden shimmer. It’s quite pretty. I love baked eyeshadow and blushe. I can’t get enough of them.

Then ast but not least was the DiorShow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum and i put the blame for this purchase upon Estee of Essie Button as i watched her YouTube video and she said how AMAzing it was and how long her lashes looked after using this & I though how good can this be. So I bought it in Selfridges for £23 and OMG its bloody amazing. It makes your lashes look super long and defined. I will be doing a whole blog on this little miracle worker so watch this space.

So that was my pre holiday haul – like I needed to be spending any money prior to going to Amsterdam! But I’m really pleased with all my purchases. Have you tried any of these things?
